Cruises On The Yangtze River
|
The Yangtze River is the longest river in entire Asia and is ranked the third longest in the world. This river starts it journey from Qinghai Province and travels east to Shanghai, emptying into the East China Sea. Many traditionalists mark the Yangtze as the unofficial demarcation between North China and South China. If you are going to be visiting China for any reason, you should take one of the available cruises on the Yangtze River. Cruises on this river range from those that take only a few hours to those that can take longer than a week. One company who offers these cruises is China Highlights.
China Highlights has a tour called the 7-Day Shanghai Sights cruise. This round trip cruise takes you down the Yangtze to destinations like Chongqing where you will get to visit the zoo and see animals such as the beloved giant panda. Fengdu Ghost City in Yangtze is yet another possible destination on this tour. From there, you will cruise to Yichang and travel back to Shanghai. This is only one example of the many cruises offered by this provider. Other choices include Beijing and Guilin tours via the Yangtze.
Viking River Cruises is another company that provides Yangtze River tours. The ship you would travel on is called the Viking Century Star. This ship offers incredible luxury and room for 186 passengers and a full crew. There are 93 decks, each with a bathroom, balcony, television, telephone and even air conditioning. Many cruise ships are like floating cities, and this one is no exception. The Viking Century Star has a restaurant, cafe, gym, beauty salon, game room and more. Of course, there are also plenty of places to relax in the sun and take in the incredible scenery that China has to offer.
Cruises on the Yangtze River are amazing experiences. In addition to what you'll see from the ship, many cruises offer shore excursions where you can explore all kinds of landmarks and tourist attractions. For example, you may visit the legendary Terra Cotta Warriors or the Three Gorges Dam. Another thing you are sure to enjoy on such a cruise is the cuisine. When cruising the Yangtze, you are guaranteed authentic Chinese food which is often offered alongside various Western dishes. All in all, a cruise on the Yangtze is an experience to remember for a lifetime!
